"Leaders' emergence is a construct studied by researchers and organizations alike due to its complex nature. Understanding this characteristic is a key component for effective personnel development and recruiting. By using multiple constructs to analyze certain dispositions like general cognitive ability, personality traits, motivation or charisma, leadership psychology may enhance the general understanding of said phenomenon. These measurements resulted in leadership psychology becoming more valued in the scientific discourse over the last years and led to a more frequent utilization of mentioned constructs. Though, the increasing renown of leadership psychology is undoubtably witnessed, as of yet there has been no specific research regarding the leaders employed in the Federal Employment Agency, thus lacking specific data bound to the corresponding circumstances. The declared goal of this bachelor thesis is to analyze leadership biographies by means of constructs stemming from leadership psychology and therefore focusing on said scientific question. Those constructs include the big five personality traits, motivation to lead, transactional and transformational leadership in contrast to each other, as well as charismatic leadership and leader effectiveness. These theoretical key components constitute this bachelor thesis?s main emphasis, extended by the qualitative survey implemented within the Federal Employment Agency. The theoretical background is discussed in the first, the empirical endeavor in the second part of this paper. The survey was carried out based on partially structured interviews and analyzed by means of mentioned leadership psychology constructs, thus focusing on the question, how successful leadership biographies occur and how successful leadership can be identified reliably. Implications for the scientific discourse and the organization itself are derived from this study's results. The conducted survey reveals the positive effect of one's demeanor, aligning with the depicted constructs on leadership emergence and performance. Individuals showing high amounts of motivation to lead, transformational leadership and charismatic attributes excelled in their leadership role. In addition to that an attempt was made to distinguish successful leaders based on their main course of action. Thus "performers" and "supporters" were differentiated."
